Today, I met Elizabeth Gilbert, the bestselling author of Eat, Pray, Love who had a profound impact on my life. After being captivated by her book, I found myself on a similar mission to explore my ‘inner state’ and uncover what my heart was longing for and where to find happiness.
I met Elizabeth at the YWCA fundraising luncheon in Bellevue, WA where I’m the President of the YWCA Endowment Guild and Elizabeth was our keynote speaker. My life is better because of people, like Elizabeth, who choose to promote community, self-sufficiency and equal opportunities for all people.
Elizabeth is real, down-to-earth, and witty, just as you’d expect her to be. She applauds the work of “Better Because” and appreciates that with introspection, integrity, and community we can all serve ourselves and the greater good.
