As I turn 5-0h this year, I decided to shift my attitude from ‘oh my gosh, I can’t believe it…where did the time go’ to ‘look at all I’ve done and see all the things left to do!’ The mental decision to see turning 50 as mini-celebrations is this year of living that much more spectaluar.
In honor of 50, I’m trying 50 new things this year. It’s not a check list of tasks, but instead a recognition of new things I do each week – both with intention and others with reckless abandon. For instance, my things are small and large…like baking bread, creating memory books for friends turning 50, and standing on my head in yoga. Bigger new things I’ve enjoyed are in trekking to Nepal, climbing Mt. Rainier with my daughter, and working a new business venture. Whether it’s big or small, trying something new is helping me realize I’m constantly growing, changing, and risking - for trying something new means being a beginner.
Yesterday, I ran across glacier snow…barefoot. Now that’s a new one too! This year, I’m better because I am 50!
